BACKGROUND

Greengate Embankment 101 is a steel framed office building at the head of Deansgate in Manchester. The building itself is an 11-storey office block with a 2-storey podium. The building is clad in a continuous glazed curtainwall system manufactured by AEL on behalf of Prater. The glazing is SSG-bonded onto the curtainwall chassis with Dow Corning 993 structural silicone and incorporates a 350mm-high feature “channel” at each floor zone. The SSG corners are all SSG bonded and form a seamless transition between each flat facade.

BRIEF

There are 1164No unitised panels in the 4 elevations, giving a total facade area of 7,000m2.

SOLUTION

Such was the success of Embankment 101 that the Architect and Developer have appointed Prater/AEL to carry out the next, slightly larger development on the site, Embankment 100.
