Steel Glazing & Firescreens

AEL are the UK market-leader in the provision of fire-rated glazed screens for commercial and multi-occupancy applications – both internal and external. The use of Fire Rated screens from 30minutes Integrity-Only through to 120minutes Integrity & Insulation, as appropriate to the Building Regulations, can enable the use of natural light deep into buildings.

Our installation teams cover the whole of the UK. For international projects we can train our customers own installers to enable the same high standard or installation to be achieved economically.

FIRAS certification is provided as a standard on all projects that AEL install for our customers. We see this as a powerful tool for you to use to show your clients that any Fire‐Rated solution, where completed by AEL on your behalf has been correctly manufactured and installed using the necessary skills, knowledge and experience as required by the CDM regulations.

The range of Fire Rated glazed doors and screens includes slimline doors, with super-slim astragals, mullions and transomes if required. Pull handles or lever/latch operation can be provided to doors along with surface or concealed closers and remotely-controlled locking. Fixed screens can be mullioned or incorporate butt-jointed glass up to EI120 and can be fitted between floors or span across multiple floors with our FR curtainwall systems. We also specialise in the provision of Fire Rated sloped roof glazing and in the provision of Fire Rated automatic sliding door systems with or without breakout facilities.

AEL are the only UK company able to offer a timber Fire Rated doorleaf within a steel Fire Rated glazed screen. Our doorleaves can be finished with traditional opaque paint finishes or a variety of decorative wood veneers. This product is limited to EI30, but is supported with full EN1634-1 certification, which is unique in the UK.

Forster, Jansen, Voest Alpine, RP Technik are our mainstay system providers, but we also deal with several other European manufacturers for project-specific solutions. Our Non-Fire-Rated steel offer includes high-span steel curtainwall. Clear unsupported spans in excess of 9m are commonplace and enable to addition of areas of clear glazing (whether capped or SSG-bonded) to double height areas, such as entrance lobbies.

Our Deco system is a direct development of historic hot-rolled W20 profiles. It has the same face width and glazing details with the added advantage that it can incorporate a thermal break, triple-glazing and is in an ongoing development programme to include fire ratings up to EW120.

If you have a special requirement, our design teams can very often provide project-specific solutions, based on Assessments through several world-renowned testing houses.
